Indian Wushu Team bags six medals in BRICS Games

The Indian Wushu team shined in glory as they bagged six medals at the BRICS games in China. Of the six medals won, 2 were gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.The Indian team gave tough competition to strong contenders of China and Russia and managed to get medals at the first ever held BRICS games.

On18 June 2017, M. Gyandas won a gold medal in Taijiquan/Taijijian, M. Bidheswari Devi won silver and L. SanatgombhiChanu won bronze in Taijiquan event.As the games continued and the final day of Wushu games came around, India again added medals to its glory.

The medals earned included 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze in the five-nation Wushu event.India’s Bideswari Chanu won the first silver medal in martial arts category of the Wushu games.

The games are being organized by China in Guangzhou. The five-nation event involves participants from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. A total of 300 athletes will be seen competing in the event taking place from 17thJune to 21st June. The event comprises of games such as Volleyball, basketball and martial arts all of which have a following in all of the BRICS countries.
