Jnanpith awardee writer and poet C Narayana Reddy passes away

Veteran Tollywood writer and lyricist and Jnanpith awardee C Narayana Reddy, who was popular as CINARE, is no more. He breathed his last at Care Hospital in Hyderabad, undergoing treatment for prolonged illness. CINARE was 85-years-old and is survived by his wife Suseela and four daughters.

He named his four daughters after sacred rivers :-

1. Ganga

2. Yamuna

3. Saraswati

4. Krishnaveni

Several of his works were translated into English, Hindi, French, Sanskrit, Malayalam and Kannada. He represented India at the world literature meet in Yugoslavia in 1990. He received Padma Shri award in 1977.He was one of those who did their degree in Urdu medium. Telugu used to be a second language those days.Narayana Reddy had served as Rajya Sabha member.
