The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) on June 5, 2018 organised the National Consultation on Child Protection in New Delhi. The conference purposefully discussed the Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children) Act (JJ Act), 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012.
The National Consultation on Child Protection was organised as a part of new initiative by Ministry of Women and Child Development to deliberate the issues concerning child protection with all the State Women and Child Development Departments and State Police Departments along with Union Ministry of Home Affairs and National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
All these laws and schemes fall under the umbrella Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) for the protection of children from various abuses and ensuring their best interest. ‘Childline’ has been expanded to 437 locations and Railway childline is functional at 60 major stations. Track child portal and KhoyaPaya App have been quite successful in restoring the missing children.
