The Rajya Sabha approved the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019 on August 6. Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the bill after repealing the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Upper House adopted resolutions to abrogate Article 370 and Article 35 A in Jammu and Kashmir. This bill has been moved to consider and pass the Lok Sabha on August 6, 2019. The lower house will also take the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill 2019.
Provision of the Bill:
1. The Bill proposed the division of two union territories namely Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir of Jammu and Kashmir State.
2. The Economy Bill provides for 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) among general category (upper caste).
