Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar on 21 August 2017 said the Modi Government aimed at strengthening the education sector in the country through empowerment of general education.“Ensuring quality education for all is one of the main objectives of the Central Government. We will eliminate the ‘aana, khana and jaana’ (come, eat and go) system. Special training courses will be made mandatory for teachers to enhance the quality of teaching in schools,” Javadekar said.
He was speaking after launching the ‘Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’ programme, an initiative of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan aimed at preparing a physical health and fitness ‘Profile Card’ for over 12 lakh Kendriya Vidyalaya students here on Monday.The minister unveiled the Profile Card at a function held at Kendriya Vidyalaya at NAD, Aluva.“Kendriya Vidyalayas in Kerala are ahead of the Kendriya Vidyalayas in other states in terms of quality of education and other aspects.
As part of the programme, the minister interacted with the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya. District Collector Muhammed Y Safeerulla and Kendriya Vidyalaya Additional Commissioner U N Khaware were among those who attended the programme. A ‘Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’ exhibition and yoga by children were also held.The ‘Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’ programme will provide a comprehensive and inclusive report card for children of all age groups and differently-abled kids. The programme aims to make students, teachers and parents aware of the importance of good health and fitness and encourage ‘60 minutes of play’ every day.
