Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched the state component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in Agartala on April 07. Expressing happiness over the launch, the CM assured that the target to train more than 1,16,000 youths by 2020 will be achieved. The problem of unemployment prevailing in the state will thus be solved.
The CM also said that small-scale industries will be provided land, security and other assistance to boost their productivity. He also informed that the government is planning to promote industrialisation based on pineapple, bamboo, rubber and jackfruit.
It may be mentioned that Tripura is the first state in Northeast India to implement the state component of PMKVY through the Directorate of Skill Development (DSD). As part of the implementation process, the DSD has launched the skill development training programmes in 13 accredited training centres across the state, with a target of 1,830 candidates on 21 job roles in 13 sectors.
